Over the past couple of weeks construction has begun on the Hayes Intermediate campus. By August 2025, Hayes is scheduled to have new driveways and parking lots (to improve traffic safety and efficiency), a secure entrance (to improve safety), more interior classroom space (to eliminate the portable), and heating/AC/roof upgrades.
After school on December 20, the existing front office (and Main Door) will be closed until August 2025. When we come back from the break on January 7, the main entrance of the school will be through Door 19 (near the existing Student Services office). Signs will help guide the way to the new (temporary) entrance.

Join Girls Who Code! Girls Who Code Clubs allow you to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models and learn computer science skills that can allow you to change the world. Our Girls Who Code Club will focus on three main things that we hope club members get out of their experience with us: More than code, Sisterhood and real-world relevance and impact.
We will be meeting once a week on Tuesdays at Hayes Intermediate from 2:35-3:35, and we plan to start January 14th. If your child is interested in being part of our club, please email Mrs. Short (shortj@glcomets.net) or Mrs. Lee (Leek@glcomets.net) by Friday, January 10th. In the email include your child’s first and last name and homeroom teacher. We will help the students register the first day, if they are new to Girls Who Code.

ILLNESSES: We have a few confirmed cases of Pertussis (Whooping cough). Strep Throat and Mycoplasma Pneumonia (Walking Pneumonia) are also very rampant right now. If your students symptoms seem to persist, they may need to be seen by a provider. Students need to stay home if they have a fever or are vomiting or experiencing diarrhea.
ATTENDANCE REPORTING: There are several ways to report an absence at Hayes. When using any of the options below please include the following information; Child's full name, homeroom teacher and the reason for their absences.
Online Attendance Reporting: You can use the online portal at ps.glcomets.net. Once you have logged in, select “Attendance Monitor” from the left navigation menu. Then, click “Report New Attendance.” After you have entered the date, reason, and explanation, click Submit. For more detailed instructions, please use the Parent Attendance Portal Directions . Please note: online attendance reporting is not available in the app; it is only available on the website.
You may continue to email HAAttendance@glcomets.net or call the attendance line at 517-925-5333.

The school news is a completely student-led operation. They work hard creating and putting together content each week! They analyze and critique each episode as a class on Mondays and aim to improve each week. Thank you for supporting and encouraging our students. Here is a link for the 12/6/24 episode.
