The school news is a completely student-led operation. They work hard creating and putting together content each week! They analyze and critique each episode as a class on Mondays and aim to improve each week. Thank you for supporting and encouraging our students. Here is a link for this week's episode.

As many of you know, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. Each year at Hayes, we take time to help spread awareness and celebrate inclusion within our school community.
Since March 21st falls on a Saturday this year, we will be celebrating next Friday, March 20th, by wearing wacky/fun socks; a universal conversation starter used to bring attention to Down syndrome awareness.
Thank you for helping us continue to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion here at Hayes!

Hayes Teacher Named Teacher of the Month
|
|
|
|
On March 7, State Representative Angela Witwer announced her office's February Teacher of the Month:
Congratulations to our February Teacher of the Month winner, Shayna Green! Shayna is a 5th grade math and social studies teacher at Hayes Intermediate School in Grand Ledge.
To quote her nominator, "Ms. Green stands out by making learning meaningful, rigorous, and student-growth focused. She turns complex concepts into engaging, real-world experiences, helping students see how numbers explain their world and how history and civics shape their role in it. She maintains high expectations and deep care , builds confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking in every child—especially those who doubt themselves. She fosters a love of learning, laying a foundation that strengthens not just individual students, but the future of our communities and democracy."
Congratulations again, and thank you for all that you do for the Grand Ledge community!

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
|
If you’ve ever wondered how to get more involved at your student’s school—or how to stay up-to-date on what’s happening at Hayes and Beagle—the PTO is a great place to start. There is no cost to join, and attending a meeting is an easy way to hear updates, share ideas, and learn how fundraising supports programs and opportunities for students and staff. We’re also looking for volunteers, whether you can help once or several times during the year; we would love to have you involved. Come check it out and see how you can be part of supporting our school community.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026 at 6:30 pm in the Beagle Media Center.
