Family School Climate Survey

Help Shape Our School Improvement Plan!
We value your input! Please take a few minutes to complete our Family School Climate Survey. Your feedback will directly inform our Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP), which guides our district’s efforts to create effective strategies for student success. Thank you for partnering with us to make our schools even better!

Candy Cane Sales!

On December 6th and 13th bring $1 each date to buy candy canes! A cart will come by each date in the afternoon to classrooms.

Girls Who Code Club

Join Girls Who Code! Girls Who Code Clubs allow you to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models and learn computer science skills that can allow you to change the world. Our Girls Who Code Club will focus on three main things that we hope club members get out of their experience with us: More than code, Sisterhood and real-world relevance and impact.

We will be meeting once a week on Tuesdays at Hayes Intermediate from 2:35-3:35, and we plan to start January 14th. If your child is interested in being part of our club, please email Mrs. Short (shortj@glcomets.net) or Mrs. Lee (Leek@glcomets.net) by Friday, January 10th. In the email include your child’s first and last name and homeroom teacher. We will help the students register the first day, if they are new to Girls Who Code.

Hayes Intermediate Blizzard Dance Party

Here is a link to sign up to chaperone for the dance party! If you plan to chaperone, please fill out a volunteer application.  It will be casual dance party with a DJ, cookies, and juice boxes provided by the Hayes & Beagle PTO. Glow sticks and bracelets will be on sale for $1 at the dance.

Volunteering

If you plan to volunteer or need to enter the building for an extended period of time, including chaperoning for the upcoming dance party, please fill out this application. This is REQUIRED when coming to volunteer in our building. It takes a couple of days for the background check to be completed, so please plan accordingly based on your volunteering schedule

Quick Reminders:

ILLNESSES: We have a few confirmed cases of Pertussis (Whooping cough). Strep Throat and Walking Pneumonia (Mycoplasma Pneumonia) are also very rampant right now. If your students symptoms seem to persist, they may need to be seen by a provider. Students need to stay home if they have a fever or are vomiting or experiencing diarrhea.

LOST AND FOUND UPDATE: Please mark your student(s) clothing and keep an eye out for missing clothing and personal items:  jacket, hat, gloves, water bottle, lunch box.  Marking items helps us to reunite students with their items. Our lost and found area fills up quickly.  Stop in to reclaim items your student may have misplaced as soon as possible. Items that are not claimed at the end of each week will be donated as we will not have space to store items during construction in 2025.

ATTENDANCE REPORTING: There are several ways to report an absence at Hayes. When using any of the options below please include the following information; Child's full name, homeroom teacher and the reason for their absences.

Online Attendance Reporting: You can use the online portal at ps.glcomets.net. Once you have logged in, select “Attendance Monitor” from the left navigation menu. Then, click “Report New Attendance.” After you have entered the date, reason, and explanation, click Submit. For more detailed instructions, please use the Parent Attendance Portal Directions . Please note: online attendance reporting is not available in the app; it is only available on the website.

You may continue to email HAAttendance@glcomets.net or call the attendance line at 517-925-5333.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

We have an outstanding joint PTO with Beagle Middle School. They have provided several incredible opportunities for our students and staff over the past few years. To stay current on updates and meetings, click here.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30 pm at the Beagle Media Center. Families may also attend this meeting virtually. Click on the link above for more information.

Hayes Happenings

The school news is a completely student-led operation. They work hard creating and putting together content each week! They analyze and critique each episode as a class on Mondays and aim to improve each week. Thank you for supporting and encouraging our students. Here is a link for this weeks episode.
